Our goal in Youth Ministry is to accomplish 5 different purposes that we feel scripture tells us each local church should try to fulfill. Those five purposes are revealed in our program.
Purpose 1:
WORSHIP- Every Wednesday night from 7 until 8:30 we meet at the Youth Shack. This has become our “teen worship service”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all serious – it’s SO much fun, but at the same time we WORSHIP together. This is our first point of contact- the assembling of ourselves together. God has done amazing things at the Shack.
Purpose 2:
DISCIPLESHIP- Every Sunday evening we meet from 5:30 until 7 at the Shack. We take the Bible verse by verse, line by line, precept upon precept. Our lead facilitator is Steve Waller. He and his wife, along with several other great volunteers lead our small group Bible studies. This is the most incredible Bible study I have personally ever been involved in.
Purpose 3:
FELLOWSHIP- We have monthly activities that vary from the craziest stuff you’ve ever heard of to community service. We do major total group activities that include everyone and we also do small group activities for specific groups of people. Honestly we have fun with EVERYTHING we do… if it ain’t fun we don’t bother with it.
Purpose 4:
Ministry- Our teens are VERY involved in the ministries of KWBC. We encourage everyone to find a ministry. We currently have teens involved in the music program, the kids program, nursery and preschool, landscaping, we have 2 praise bands, drama teams, puppet teams, AWANA leaders. We want everyone to be in a worship service, Bible study, and ministry every week.
Purpose 5:
Missions- Our biggest events of the year are evangelistic. We believe that Acts 1:8 mandates us to go to our Jerusalem, then Judea, Samaria, and the entire world. We accomplish this through “Death’s Door” which is an alternative to Halloween event that shares the gospel with hundreds in our community. We also have monthly community outreaches where we do service projects or pass out invitations to church. We do regional outreach by helping our church planting ministries here in the states (these are mostly Spanish congregations). We also do foreign mission trips where we raise the money to go, then we go to one of our Stations around the world to start new churches. We have been a part of helping to start 5 new churches in Latin America and the Caribbean over the last few years.
